PRIDE READS! So many men, so little time!

So many (fictional) men, so little time!

Dear Reader,

PRIDE MONTH is book bonanza month. Authors push their product with the help of other authors, on their socials, in their newsletters, or in person at various events.

By the time I got around to writing this, I already had many MM promotions lined up to promote. As you'll see below there's a lot to discover in the world of gay fiction (including two audiobook promos). So please, don't rush when you reach the bottom of this newsletter. Take the time to browse with each click.

I'm currently travelling, but before I left home I chose three new books to read on our long flights. Two of them, queer, and one chic lit from my supportive author friend.

Yeah the Boys is Australian author, Holden Sheppard's sequel to his popular debut, Invisible Boys. The first book follows three teen boys dealing with their sexuality in a small town. It was also made into a television series. I'm looking forward to reading this follow up.

Deep House is the latest from Jeremy Atherton Lin who wrote the wonderful Gay Bar, Why We Went Out. Gay Bar was part history, part personal story, exploring why we needed places to just be ourselves. I lent it to a friend who was hesitant to give it back, so I told him he could keep it.

Last, but definitely not least, is The Paradise Pact, the latest from renowned Aboriginal author (from the Wiradyuri nation), Dr Anita Heiss. Anita writes Romance, Historical Fiction (which is filled with facts about the treatment of Indigenous people we didn't learn at school), and longer form chic lit. My favourite novel of hers is Tiddas, which was made into a stage play.

Anita was also instrumental in encouraging me at the start of my writing journey. At an early draft stage of my first novel, she told me about a great manuscript assessor who, after I contacted her, helped me shape the story over several more drafts. Anita has always championed my writing, and helped promote me through her socials.

Her new book follows three 50-something female friends on a trip to Hawaii. The tagline for this story is, "Heartbreak is out. Holidays are in!" Perfect to read on vacation.

That's all from me this month. I'll be trekking the globe somewhere while you read this.

Happy Pride Month!

Kevin

Over the past years I’ve been part of three writing groups.

All had their merits, but the one I’ve rejoined this year is the best for several reasons. First off, it’s small. There are only four of us so every week, we each have time to present a scene and get feedback.

My favourite GAY novels! Dear Reader, When this newsletter sneaks into your inbox, I'll be on a plane on my way home from an extended holiday. So instead of collating a list of author promos to share with you (although there is one below), I thought I'd tell you about some of the gay books I couldn't put down. LONDON TRIPTYCH by JONATHAN KEMP I recently recommended this book to a female friend who enjoyed it, but had a different take on it than I had. To me, this work explores inner...

May the 4th | Supporting local book stores Dear Reader, There's a little change in my newsletter this month. New formatting. New look. But still the same deals from other authors, a new blog, and teasers for my books. May the 4th, that social media tribute day to Star Wars, is just around the corner. A while back I was Supanova, a yearly Sydney Comic-Con event, and before I went a friend asked if I was going in Cosplay. I said, no, I'm just selling my books there. He gave me a weird stare and...
